I work on IT service contracts and how they are managed – from designing SLAs and KPIs to the asset and licence records those contracts depend on.

I worked in-house at DXC Technology and CGI, and as an external consultant for KInIT. That gives me both an insider’s view of how organisations work and the distance of an independent adviser.

How I think

Measurable
If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it – or enforce it. Every commitment needs a definition and a data source.
Practical
Only as many processes as your organisation can realistically sustain. No paperwork for the sake of it.
Fair to both parties
A good contract works for both the buyer and the supplier. If it doesn’t, it turns into a source of disputes.
A good contract still works for the people who weren’t in the room when it was signed.
